Enriching Quality Of Life In Washtenaw County: Ann Arbor Community Foundation Holds Annual Meeting

AAACF

From its youth council to serving the growing needs of seniors in Washtenaw County, the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation is a philanthropic organization with a broad community focus intending to connect and engage with area residents.

89.1 WEMU'S Lisa Barry talks with foundation president and CEO Neel Hajra about the foundation's annual community meeting taking place on May 7th.

Neel has been with the foundation for 8 years and has served as president for the past 3 years.  The foundation's mission is to enrich the quality of life in Washtenaw County.  The foundation is 55 years old, and, according to Hajra, the more they grow the more they can give back to the community.  They focus on every area of philanthropic services in the area, giving out scholarships, enriching the arts and culture, and doing what they can to help the environment.

Hajra says they are not single focused and work with a lot of different organizations.  And he says they want to share what they're learning with the community.

The Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation is having its annual community meeting on May 7th that is open to the entire community beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Washtenaw Community College.

Hajra hinted at a special announcement to be made at the meeting and said they are taking a close look at the county's aging population and working towards solutions dealing with what that brings.

By the community - for the community is their bottom line message, doing what's best for residents of Washtenaw County.  Networking and refreshments for the community meeting begin at 5:30 p.m.  The program begins at 7 p.m.
